DE updates in September 2012! It’s big Stuff!

We have made contact with Mass Innovation Nights! We are growing in the Maine by adding a new charity we like called Music and Magic Maine & we are looking at what groups we want to be a part of in Portsmouth N.H. In Columbus Ohio we are going to be a part of a cool event The Columbus Young Professionals is putting on, the focus is on speed networking for non-profits. Our J.A.N.S. events are coming together as well. As you may or may not know we will be at Signature Wines. Network Today is growing at a steady pace as well. Our new website will be up by the end of the year and our app for the smart phones as well. These are the highlights this month in our blog. Lets get right into the think of things.

In Maine we found this cool charity and received the following email that gave us the inside scoop:

Well, in October of 2009 Evandle Lawton of South Paris Maine played a song in an old barn in Oxford County that broke through the dimensions.  He called it Open Sky and only those in the barn that night heard it, it was never recorded or written down.  A few days later, he was gone.  Van had passed through the veil and left his friends and family and band members here on earth.

I decided to create a fund in his memory so I could place musical instruments into the hands of children like himself who would otherwise not have the opportunity to play.  Since that time, I have given over 36 instruments to children, self published a children’s book, and held several successful events. Open Sky Fund is a registered non-profit with the state of Maine and is good standing.

I am continuing this work under a new name now and as of this week, Open Sky Fund is now Music and Magic Maine and my new website should be up this month.

I have two very exciting events coming up: on October 6th the band Fogcutters of Portland have organized a re-creation of the photograph “A Great Day in Harlem” and calling it “A Great Day in Portland” and over 100 musicians in Maine are set to participate. The proceeds from the sale of this photo are going to benefit my organization.  And then, On December 1st, I am doing Kimmy’s Odd Ball 2012, which is an annual fundraiser since 2010 and at both of these events I host an instrument drive to collect unwanted instruments to fix up and find children to give them to.

Thank you!

The CYP Club event in October is going to be great because we need Non-profits to work with. The event coming up is a twist on speed networking. The focus is on getting charities to reach out more & get to know folks in the area. Network Today will be there to conduct interviews & help folks & the charities to get to know more about them in the area. We will have more on this soon….

Tim Benoit who is our video man in Maine is networking in Portsmouth to see what groups we can interview & write about. Finding the right groups is very important as we grow in new areas. With Tim scouting groups out this should not take very long at all. After all we are connected in Maine & Mass now.  Yes I said Mass! We made a major connection with Mass Innovation nights so you will see more of Mass now as well.

We also will have a big things happening in Mass with Mass Innovation Nights. New content, Businesses & a great new group to get to know & blog about! More coming soon……

We are growing & connecting so stay tuned & connection with our blogs & Community Journal our Newsletter!
