International Steampunk City. Waltham Mass

On May 6, 7,8, 2011, citizens and visitors to the beautiful and historic city of Waltham, Massachusetts may attend a festival like no other. International Steampunk City, presented by the Charles River Museum of Industry & Innovation is a sort of Ringling Brothers meets the Industrial Revolution event that encompasses the entire downtown. A small museum that could, the Charles River Museum of Industry & Innovation is working with the City of Waltham, the Waltham West Suburban Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Waltham Business Partnership, the Waltham Tourism Council, Steampuffin and the New England Steampunk Community that blends Victorian sensibility with the whimsical Steampunk movement.

With five stages, two city street, three historic mansions, two industrial museums and over fifteen venues, International Steampunk City is gearing up to be one of most unusual festival in New England, “Out hope is to create an experience where visitors believe they have entered a real steampunk city. A city Jules Verne would be proud of” said Stephanie Bassett, Event Director for International Steampunk City.

Festival organizers have planned over 1000 hours of entertainment including but not limited too: Two VIP Dinners on Friday night, three mystery dinners, four art galleries, live bands, historic steam vehicles, an authentic Victorian picnic, a New Orleans style parade, sword dancing, a Civil War Re-enactment, fire eaters, steampunk storytellers, side show acts, belly dancers, Morris dancers, scholarly lectures, model engineering exhibits, ham radio operators station, Skype stations, workshops, author signings, street performances, gardening experiences, boating, blacksmith demonstrations, shopping, magicians, theatrical performances, film screenings, Live Action Roll Playing Games, Victorian Demonstration, photo opportunities, train rides, and more.
